Best of 2007

Many thanks to those who have supported our "journey" this year and have emailed us & left us comments and best wishes. We too wish everyone a very happy & peaceful 2008.

A few months into 2007, and somehow something clicked (not just the D2X's shutter!) and our photography just fell into place. I've never been happier with what we've achieved photographically and here's Paul's & my pick of our favorite images from 2007.

First shots with our new D3

I still haven't even clapped eyes on our new kit but Paul is busy playing with it over in Cyprus. In fact, he informed me that he already has some kind of gunk on the sensor... great!

Paul took the D3 & the 14-24mm out on their first shoot and photographed his brother & some skateboarders in Limassol, Cyprus. Most of these were shot at 400 ISO and a couple at 800 ISO but the first one (in the collage below) was shot at 3200 ISO... great shot of his bro's butt! I don't think the exercise here was to shoot at high ISO but more of an excuse to use the kit but Paul was especially impressed with the focusing of the D3 in low light.

What begins with a D and ends in a 3?

Coming soon!

unofficially...

...Paul & I got three more merits from the SWPP. I say unofficially as they haven't posted the page where they announce the merits but the scores have been put up alongside the images on the competition page itself (SWPP)

I guess you could say the SWPP is the equivalent of the WPPI and it judges on this basis:
Exceptional- 95-100- Merit
Superior- 94-90- Merit
Excellent- 85-89- Merit
Deserving Of A Merit- 80-84- Merit
Deserving Of A Review (Above Average)- 76-79
Average- 74-75
Acceptable- 70-73
Unacceptable- 0-69

Paul got two merits both scoring 80 for the following two images:

And I'm super chuffed because I scored 85 and from having looked at previous scores not many people have the honor to say they got over 80. I was also very surprised because it was one of those shots you're not sure about and you think "shall I, shan't I enter it"! I'm glad I did!

There were also a couple of 79 scores...

The question is, how do you turn a 79 into an 80? Anyone?!

Forward in time
